Looking for health information, particularly on the internet is difficult enough especially for people who looking for very specific health information.
We already know that in the last decade, access to sources of information can be done electronically. Sources in print form is familiar, easy and satisfying. However, new information often encountered in medical journals and health sources, for example is health directory. Increasingly easy access is actually a challenge for us to wrestle the world’s health, especially the clinician to continuously upgrade its knowledge and skills. Each of the research process must be initiated by the process of search and discovery of information, so that when the information search process does not go well then the research process also will not develop properly. The sources of information that we can use are divided into 4 categories:
1.System: a source of information in the form of clinical evidence and regularly renewed, some good links, among others, PIER, uptodate, Clinical Evidence EBM Guidelines
2.Synopses: sources of information that have two functions: as a medium of information for the clinician to the presence of a clinical development and as a database of articles if we find that there has been a complete guide.
3.Summaries or syntheses are a source of information that gathers several research reports from a particular topic and then analyzed and being reviewed, commonly called Systematic Rivew.
4.Studies is a source of information in the form of original research or primary research eg Pubmed Journal, British Medical Journal, Oxford Journal PH, etc
